I've gone for a basic dark green colour (they are a little lighter in the flesh) from a pic of them on parade outside the Kremlin. I've added magnets so the turret can be rotated, and the miniature has a pleasing weight to it.Īgain in researching these seem to have been presented in every camo scheme under the sun. You have to do a little bit of work in lining up the autocannons but otherwise is very straightforward. Next up some Shilka AA units, these are Battlefront's own miniatures and are a resin and metal mix. Camopedia (there is such a thing! ) says that this (known as VSR pattern) started to be introduced in limited numbers towards the end of the Soviet period (so at least I have that fact as a back-up for any sticklers to the Team Yankee time period! ) Here are some examples of the actual camo pattern that I'm attempting to copy. Here is another shot of the infantry (will try and get some more pics where you can see more of the colours) Thanks man! Would be interested in seeing those, have you started work on any of them yet? Be interested to know if anyone else does anything similar with their Team Yankee force, in stretching the setting and going either more modern or back to the 70's? Wanted to do something different to the Frogfoot and enjoy making plastic kits, this seemed like a very reasonably priced alternative! There are different selections of Ak74 weilding infantry, rifle with grenade launcher and rpg.įirst purchases: some AA Shilka and SU-22 Fitter ground strike aircraft. Ive painted these up in a camo scheme taken from one used by modern Russian Federation infantry. There is a great line of miniatures from Eureka miniatures, these are from an Australian company but distributed in the UK under Fighting 15s So to do something different (and make the most of the modern setting) I have stretched forward 10-15 years to the 90s and the Russian Republic infantry. I also like to shop around a lot for different miniatures - Team Yankee is set in the 80s, where the Soviet uniform was very basic and similar to WW2 Strelkovy. Have recently started a 15mm Soviet Union project for cold war/modern force and terrain and though I would post ongoing work for it here, hopefully help out anyone doing something similar!
